Have questions? We’re here to help you.

Courses and assignments are facilitated through an online learning system called Canvas.

Because Ancora High School is conducted entirely online, a computer and internet are required to participate. If you do not have a laptop and are near one of our partner schools, you have complimentary access to the computer labs at our partner schools. If you are not near a partner school, you can gain access at your nearest public library. You may also purchase a laptop or Chromebook that meets the required specifications through the Ancora High School Student Portal.

A student technology discount program is also available through technology partner, CDW. Purchases can be made through the Ancora High School Student Portal.

Attendance for online courses is taken by students logging in and completing work in the online classroom. Students are expected to actively participate in each online course at least once per week. Students are expected to complete at least one of the following academic events (1) complete a quiz, (2) complete and post an assignment, or (3) post at least once a week to a relevant class discussion board to receive attendance credit. Students who do not submit substantive work for their online courses for 30 or more consecutive calendar days may be withdrawn.

Ancora High School offers many of the same courses you might find at a traditional high school. However, you will be completing course material in a completely online format that will allow you to go at your own pace.

While both the GED and a high school diploma mark a completion of high school, a diploma from Ancora High School is not the same as a GED. The GED is a single test that measures competency and proficiency in high school level subjects. Ancora High School is comprised of classes that teach you the material to achieve a high school diploma.

To request tutoring, students will complete a tutoring request form. The form is located in the course eResources section. Upon submitting the form, the student will be contacted within 24-48 hours by a faculty tutor to schedule a tutoring session. Tutoring sessions will be conducted through Google Meets.

Student progress is determined by course completion based on a student earning a D or better letter grade. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or greater to graduate from Ancora High School. Students must satisfactorily complete a prerequisite course before moving on to the next course.  Students are required to complete 22 credits with a minimum of six (6) credits being completed through Ancora High School.

Ancora may accept credits earned at another accredited high school or home school. Your transcripts will be reviewed to determine the exact courses that will transfer to Ancora High School.
